Driver Dies after Ejected in Crash on 80 Freeway in Auburn, Struck by Semi Truck
AUBURN, CA (August 23, 2024) – A woman was killed in a traffic accident on 80 Freeway in Auburn late Wednesday evening on August 21.
The fatal accident happened around 11:50 p.m. near Nevada Street. According to the California Highway Patrol, the woman lost control of her vehicle, hit the center divider, a concrete post of the Nevada Street Bridge and was ejected from the vehicle.
While the woman was lying along the westbound lanes of the freeway, a semi truck struck her.
As a result, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity was not immediately available.
Officers said the woman was not wearing hear seat belt at the time of the crash.
The CHP is investigating the circumstances of the fatality. They are still trying to determine whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
