23-Year-Old Woman Dies after Struck by SUV in Monterey County
MONTEREY COUNTY, CA (August 23, 2024) – Maximina Solano-Sabino was killed in a pedestrian accident in Monterey County Thursday morning on August 22.
The fatal accident happened just after 6:00 am. on Nashua Road near Monte Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, Solano-Sabino was trying to cross the roadway when an oncoming GMC Suburban struck her.
As a result, Solano-Sabino suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. She was a 23-year-old Gilroy resident, according to the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office.
The driver and passenger of the Suburban, both were Salinas residents, stayed on scene and cooperated with authorities.
Alcohol and/or drugs are not believed to be a factor in this crash. The law enforcement agency added the weather was cloudy, dark and dry, but did not say if that was a factor in the crash.
Further investigation is underway.
