Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Car on Highway 198 in Kings County
KINGS COUNTY, CA (September 12, 2024) – A man was hit and killed by a car on Highway 198 near Armona area of Kings County Tuesday evening on September 10.
The fatal crash happened just before 8:30 p.m. at 14th Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 55-year-old woman was driving a Kia eastbound on the highway when the male pedestrian crossed the lanes directly into the car’s path.
The front of the Kia then struck the pedestrian.
As a result of the crash, the pedestrian suffered severe injuries. Paramedics rushed him to Adventist Medical Center Hanford, where he later died.
At this time, the identity of the victim was not immediately available.
Officers said alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
