Man Riding Motorized Wheelchair Dies after Colliding with SUV on Antelope Boulevard in Red Bluff
RED BLUFF, CA (October 24, 2024) – A 64-year-old man died in a motorized wheelchair accident on Antelope Boulevard in Red Bluff Tuesday night on October 22.
The fatal accident happened around 6:56 p.m. at the Sacramento River Bridge. According to the Red Bluff Police Department, the victim was riding his motorized wheelchair against traffic, heading westbound in the eastbound lane of Antelope Boulevard when he collided head-on with a Ford SUV.
When officers arrived, they located the SUV blocking the eastbound lane of Antelope Boulevard.
Paramedics attempted saving the man riding the motorized wheelchair. However, the man did not survive and died at the scene.
The driver of the Ford was not injured.
Police said that the driver did not display any indications of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
After a medical evaluation, the driver of the Ford was released.
At this time, the name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The fatality remains under investigation. Police asked anyone with further information to contact them at 530-527-3131.
