70-Year-Old Pedestrian Hit, Killed by Dump Truck at Parnassus Avenue and Stanyan Street [San Francisco, CA]

Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Dump Truck at Parnassus Avenue in San Francisco

 
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (October 23, 2024) — A 70-year-old pedestrian was hit and killed by a dump truck at Parnassus Avenue and Stanyan Street.
 
According to San Francisco Police, the deadly pedestrian accident happened around 8:45 a.m. Tuesday. Authorities learned that a 70-year-old pedestrian had a green light and decided to cross in the designated crosswalk. However, a dump truck driver who also had the green light turned and, witnesses say, possibly did not know the truck had run over the victim until it was too late.
 
Soon after, police officers and paramedics responded but the victim passed away shortly after. Officials have not released the victim’s name.
 
The driver stayed and cooperated with police investigators, who did not identify the leading cause.
 
According to reports, the dump truck was part of the UCSF construction project and tried making its way there.
 
There is no other clear information about the crash. However, if anyone has more information, call San Francisco police officers.
