Elderly Woman Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver on Outer Highway 18 in Apple Valley

 
APPLE VALLEY, CA (October 22, 2024) – A 79-year-old woman was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Outer Highway 18 in Apple Valley Monday evening on October 21.
 
The fatal crash happened around 10:15 p.m. just east of Pohez Road. According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, the victim was walking east along the south side of the roadway when she was struck by an unknown eastbound vehicle.
 
After the crash, the driver of the vehicle continued without stopping to rendering aid.
 
First responders rushed the woman to a hospital with severe injuries.
 
Despite life-saving efforts at the hospital, the woman did not survive and was pronounced dead. Her identity was not immediately available.
 
Crews closed the crash scene for about five hours while they investigated the fatality.
