COTTONWOOD, CA (October 4, 2024) — An elderly woman died in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident on the 5 Freeway near Gas Point Road.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, Redding Units responded to reports of a pedestrian lying on the southbound freeway. Upon dispatch, officers found the 66-year-old female sprawled on the shoulder of the interstate. However, she succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
