DUI Driver Hits Officer at Olive and Linden Avenues in Fresno

 
FRESNO, CA (October 16, 2024) – An officer was injured in a DUI hit-and-run crash at Olive Avenue and Linden Avenue in Fresno early Sunday morning.
 
The crash happened just before 2:00 a.m. on October 13. According to the Fresno Police Department, officers responded to a report of a physical disturbance in front of a nightclub.
 
As officers were investigating the incident, they received a report that a vehicle traveling eastbound on Olive Avenue struck an officer, knocking him to the ground.
 
Responding paramedics took the officer to a local hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.
 
Meanwhile, the suspect vehicle slowed briefly and then continued heading eastbound. It then became stuck in traffic.
 
The driver of the vehicle, identified as 21-year-old Michelle Ashley Ruiz, was reportedly driving under the influence.
 
Ruiz and her adult male passenger were detained.
 
Officers arrested Ruiz under suspicion of felony DUI and felony hit and run.
 
Further investigation is underway.
