Shakiyla Bryant Faces DUI Charges in Deadly Motorcycle Crash on Highway 101 near Smith River Road
SMITH RIVER, CA (October 16, 2024) — Shakiyla Bryant faces DUI charges following Monday’s deadly DUI motorcycle accident on Highway 101 near Smith River Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal motorcycle crash happened around 6:30 p.m. Monday. While impaired, 52-year-old Bryant entered the path of a 1997 Harley-Davidson motorcycle after turning onto Highway 101. Subsequently, the 56-year-old motorcyclist from Crescent City attempted to stop but struck Bryant’s 2018 Jeep Wrangler.
The rider died at the scene. Officials have not released his identity.
According to an investigation, DUI factored into the accident and arrested Bryant for DUI causing gross bodily injury.
