Woman Killed in Head-On Accident on Highway 99 near Howsley Road [Sutter County, CA]

Wrong-Way Driver Dies after Colliding Head-On with Another Vehicle on Highway 99 in Sutter County

 
SUTTER COUNTY, CA (October 15, 2024) – A woman was killed in a head-on accident on Highway 99 in Sutter County early Sunday morning on October 13.
 
The fatal accident happened shortly after 2:30 a.m. just south of Howsley Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, the woman was driving a Chrysler Pacifica southbound in the northbound lanes of the highway when she collided head-on with a GMC Denali.
 
As a result of the crash, the woman suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
 
The Sutter County Coroner’s Office only identified the woman as a 25-year-old Marysville resident. They withheld her name at this time.
 
Meanwhile, the 46-year-old male driver of the GMC was taken to the hospital with major injuries.
 
It is unclear if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
