Kephas Pope Hit and Killed by Car near El Camino Real [Santa Clara, CA]

18-Year-Old Student Dies after Struck by Car in Front Santa Clara University Grounds

 
SANTA CLARA, CA (November 24, 2024) – Kephas Pope was hit and killed by a car in Santa Clara Thursday on November 21.
 
The fatal crash happened shortly before noon near El Camino Real and Accolti Way, just in front the Santa Clara University grounds. According to the Santa Clara Police Department, Pope was riding his bicycle when he was struck by a southbound car.
 
The impact caused Pope serious injuries. He was rushed to a hospital, where he later died. He was an 18-year-old Santa Clara University student and a member of the college’s Class of 2027.
 
Pope’s father set up a GoFundMe page for his funeral expenses.
 
Police said the driver stopped at the scene, and there is no indication that anyone was arrested or cited, or that the driver was impaired by drugs or alcohol.
 
At this time, the circumstances of the crash remain under investigation.
