Miguel Reyes Dies, Diego Cruz Detained for DUI in Wrong-Way Crash on 5 Freeway near Las Pulgas Road

 
LAS PULGAS, CA (November 1, 2024) — Miguel Reyes died in a wrong-way DUI accident on the 5 Freeway near Las Pulgas Road.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol Oceanside Area Office, the fatal two-car crash happened on October 10. The wrong-way driver, later identified as Diego Fernandez Cruz, crashed into a vehicle driven by Miguel Reyes.
 
Reyes passed away in the incident which drew heavy traffic to the scene.
 
Officers arrested Cruz on multiple counts, including felony DUI and homicide-related charges.
 
Reyes’ family has created a GoFundMe page, which has topped the goal of $30,000. His wife, Sandra Reyes, continues to mourn this loss, especially for the couple’s 4-year-old baby girl, Mia.
