Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Tesla on Highway 138 in Phelan

 
PHELAN, CA (November 13, 2024) – A pedestrian was hit and killed by a car on Highway 138 in Phelan late Tuesday evening on November 12.
 
The fatal crash happened around 5:36 p.m. just west of the 15 Freeway near Dusty Lane. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2024 Tesla struck the pedestrian in unclear circumstances.
 
First responders attempted saving the pedestrian, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
 
The driver of the Tesla was transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center with major injuries.
 
The windshield of the Tesla was significantly damaged, and personal belongings, including a shoe and articles of clothing, were scattered across the roadway.
 
The San Bernardino County Coroner withheld the victim’s identity at this time.
 
The cause of the crash is under investigation by the CHP Inland Division.
