41-Year-Old Woman Dies after Struck by Vehicle on Cesar Chavez Boulevard at 3rd Street

 
FRESNO, CA (November 21, 2024) – Rachel Vanderpool was hit and killed by a vehicle on Cesar in southeast Fresno on Tuesday night.
 
The crash happened at 6:12 pm in the area of Cesar Chavez Boulevard and 3rd Street. According to the Fresno Police Department, Vanderpool stepped into the roadway from the center median. At the same time, an oncoming vehicle was approaching the area.
 
The driver of the vehicle was unable to stop in time and struck Vanderpool.
 
Vanderpool was rushed to a local hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. She was a 41-year-old Fresno resident, according to the Fresno County Coroner’s Office.
 
The driver stayed on the scene and cooperated with police.
 
An investigation into this crash is ongoing.
