Passenger Dies after Ejected in Overturned Off-Road Vehicle in Bakersfield
BAKERSFIELD, CA (November 20, 2024) – Samuel Rodriguez Rodriguez was killed in an off-road crash in east Bakersfield Sunday afternoon on November 17.
The fatal crash happened around 2:00 p.m. in the 11000 block of Kern Canyon Road, just east of the road in the foothills. According to the Bakersfield Police Department, Rodriguez was a passenger in a four-seater off-road vehicle that was traveling up a hill when it struck a rut and flipped.
Rodriguez suffered fatal injuries from the crash and died at the scene. He was a 23-year-old Bakersfield resident, according to the Kern County Coroner’s Office.
The driver remained on scene and cooperated with officers.
Police said drugs and alcohol are not factors in this crash, which is under investigation.
