8-Year-Old Xavier Ocegueda Killed in Head-On Accident on Highway 39 [Asuza, CA]

Head-On Crash in Asuza Kills La Puente Boy and Hurt Seven Others

 
ASUZA, CA (December 8, 2024) – Xavier Ocegueda was killed in a multi-vehicle accident in Azusa Thursday afternoon on December 5.
 
The fatal accident happened around 5:10 p.m. on Highway 39 at East Fork Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, a gray Honda Accord was traveling south on the highway when it crossed into the northbound lane and hit a black Subaru Forester head-on.
 
Ocegueda, who was a passenger in the Accord, died at the scene. He was an 8-year-old La Puente resident, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.
 
Two other passengers in the Accord, a woman and a 5-year-old girl, suffered moderate to major injuries.
 
The driver of the Accord was taken to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center with major injuries.
 
Meanwhile, the female driver of the Forester also suffered major injuries.
 
The SUV’s passengers were a man, a 13-year-old boy and a 3-year-old boy. The man had major injuries while the children sustained minor injuries.
 
The cause of the crash and factors involved are still under investigation.
