Tabitha Wilkens Detained in Deadly Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crash near Canby Road and Pineland Drive
REDDING, CA (December 11, 2024) — Officers arrested Tabitha Wilkens for fatally striking a pedestrian in a hit-and-run accident near Canby Road and Pineland Drive on Monday.
The Redding Police Department responded to a report around 11:30 p.m. and found a man with life-threatening injuries. Witnesses informed officers that the driver involved had left the scene. Moments later, paramedics rushed the victim to Mercy Medical Center where the man died later on. Officials did not release his name.
While investigating the accident, Redding Police officers stopped a car, driven by 25-year-old Wilkens of Redding. Police arrested her for DUI and learned that she was heading northbound on Canby Road when she struck the pedestrian on the shoulder. Officers arrested Wilkins for vehicular manslaughter and DUI.
