Woman Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash at Genesee Avenue and Mount Etna Drive [Clairemont, CA]

Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver on Genesee Avenue in Clairemont

 
CLAIREMONT, CA (January 19, 2025) – A woman was killed in a hit-and-run crash at Genesee Avenue and Mount Etna Drive in Clairemont on Friday evening.
 
The fatal crash happened around 9:00 p.m. on January 17. According to the San Diego Police Department, the woman was walking westbound in the south crosswalk when a vehicle traveling northbound struck her.
 
After striking her, the driver of the vehicle fled the scene without stopping.
 
Arriving paramedics rushed the woman to a hospital with severe injuries.
 
Despite life-saving efforts at the hospital, the woman did not survive and was declared dead. She was not yet identified.
 
Police did not provide a description of the suspect or the suspect’s vehicle.
 
It is still unknown if alcohol was a factor in the crash. The department’s traffic division is handling the investigation.
