John McLaughlin Killed in Bicycle Accident on Pacific Coast Highway [Malibu, CA]

66-Year-Old Bicyclist Dies after Struck by Car on PCH in Malibu

 
MALIBU, CA (February 27, 2025) – John C. McLaughlin was killed in a bicycle accident in Malibu Saturday morning on February 22.
 
The fatal accident happened around 11:15 a.m. on Pacific Coast Highway, just north of Sycamore Canyon Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, McLaughlin had been riding a Specialized bike on the northbound shoulder when he abruptly turned into the traffic lane.
 
A northbound Mazda 3 sedan then struck him.
 
As a result of the crash, McLaughlin suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. He was a 66-year-old Los Angeles resident.

The 37-year-old Malibu female driver of the Mazda and her passenger, a 42-year-old Malibu man, were unharmed.

The circumstances of the crash are still under investigation.
