Lanes Closed after Bicycle Accident Involving Police Car on Beach Boulevard and Heil Avenue in Huntington Beach

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA (March 3, 2025) – One person sustained injuries in a bicycle accident on Beach Boulevard, Wednesday evening.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on February 26, at about 7:20 p.m. For reasons still under investigation, a bicyclist and a police patrol unit collided near the area of Beach Boulevard and Heil Avenue.

Emergency crews transported the bicyclist to a local hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.

As per reports, the Huntington Beach police officer did not suffer injuries.

Responders closed all lanes on Beach Boulevard and Heil Avenue until 10:00 p.m.

CHP continues to investigate the cause of the accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.

Exercise increased caution at intersections, as they are statistically prone to accidents. Look for cyclists before making turns or proceeding through an intersection. Always yield the right of way to cyclists in accordance with traffic rules.
