Wrong-Way Driver Dies after Crashing into Several Vehicles on 405 Freeway in Sherman Oaks
SHERMAN OAKS, CA (February 12, 2025) – One person was killed in a wrong-way accident on 405 Freeway in Sherman Oaks early Tuesday morning on February 11.
The fatal accident happened around 4:06 a.m. near the Valley Vista Boulevard exit. According to the California Highway Patrol, a male driver of a vehicle was traveling the wrong way in the southbound carpool lane near the Getty Center, when he collided head-on with another car. He also crashed into multiple other vehicles.
As a result, the wrong-way driver suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. He was not yet identified.
The driver of the other vehicle was rushed to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center with critical injuries, including multiple broken bones.
Another person was evaluated at the scene but declined further medical treatment.
It was unknown if drugs or alcohol was a factor in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
