Samuel Calloway Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash on Rock Springs Road [Escondido, CA]

Former U.S. Marine Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver in Escondido

 
ESCONDIDO, CA (February 12, 2025) – Samuel Calloway was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Escondido Saturday night on January 25.
 
The fatal crash happened around 6:00 p.m. at Rock Springs Road at Seven Oakes Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, Calloway was walking home from a store when a green or teal-colored pickup truck struck him.
 
After the crash, the driver of the pickup truck fled the scene without rendering aid.
 
Calloway suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. He was a former Marine who had been stationed at Camp Pendleton and served in Afghanistan.
 
At this time, the hit-and-run suspect remains at large.
 
Investigators urged anyone with information to contact the California Highway Patrol.
