Two Injured after Fiery Car Accident on Highway 50 near Watt Avenue in Sacramento

SACRAMENTO, CA (February 27, 2025) – Two people sustained injuries in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 50, Wednesday morning.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on February 26, at about 6:43 a.m. For reasons still under investigation, a pickup truck and another vehicle collided in the westbound lanes near Watt Avenue.

The impact of the collision caused the pickup truck to burst into flames.

Emergency crews later transported two victims to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities did not release the names of the people involved.

Responders temporarily closed affected lanes to make way for clearing operations and an investigation. All lanes were reopened at 8:05 a.m.

CHP continues to investigate the cause of the accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
