Fatal Hit-and-Run Accident on 5 Freeway near Richard Boulevard
SACRAMENTO, CA (February 25, 2021) – A woman died in a hit-and-run accident on 5 Freeway in Sacramento late Wednesday evening.
The accident happened around 11:25 p.m., February 24, just past Richards Boulevard near the American River.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the woman was walking along the two right-hand lanes of northbound traffic on 5 Freeway when a vehicle struck her. While lying in the roadway, a tractor-trailer also hit her.
First responders pronounced the woman dead at the scene. They only described her as a 54-year-old Sacramento resident.
The 68-year-old Sacramento man who was driving the big rig stayed at the scene and cooperated with officers, but the other driver did not stop.
North Sacramento CHP is asking anyone with information regarding the crash to call 916-798-0975.
