79-year-old Jane Hansen Killed, 84-Year-Old David Hansen Hurt in Crash with Train on Highway 162 near Riceton Highway
RICHVALE, CA (April 13, 2021) — 79-year-old Jane Hansen died, and 84-year-old David Hanson was injured in an accident with a train on Highway 162 near Riceton Highway Sunday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, David, of San Jose, was driving his 2010 Toyota Tundra westbound on Highway 162 around 7:05 p.m. For unknown reasons, he failed to acknowledge the railroad crossing arms and slammed into the front of a train. As a result of the impact, the pickup rotated and came to a stop facing east.
Shortly after, paramedics responded to the scene to find the passenger, Jane Hansen, deceased upon arrival. Meanwhile, emergency personnel shuttled David to Enloe Medical Center with major injuries.
At this time, the precise cause of the accident remains unclear. However, if anyone has more information, please contact the CHP.
