Randell Cox Suffers Major Injuries after a DUI Crash in Hayfork, Tyler Mead Arrested
HAYFORK, CA (July 19, 2021) – Randell Cox sustained serious injuries after a DUI accident in Hayfork Saturday, July 10.
The accident happened around 12:20 p.m. on Highway 3 near Wildwood Road. CHP officials said 33-year-old Tyler Mead of Hayfork was driving a 2003 Honda southbound with Cox as the passenger. For unknown reasons, the car went off the roadway and collided with the dirt embankment and a tree. It then rolled over.
As a result, Cox was ejected from the car and suffered major injuries. He was also 33 years old from Hayfork. Mead sustained moderate injuries. Paramedics airlifted both to Mercy Hospital in Redding for treatment.
Mead was later arrested and booked into Trinity County Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence resulting in injuries.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
