17-Year-Old Gabriela Martinez Dies in Street Racing Crash on Magnolia Avenue near Jones Avenue
RIVERSIDE, CA (August 17, 2021) — Gabriela Martinez died in a street racing accident on Magnolia Avenue near Jones Avenue Sunday night.
According to the Riverside Police Department, the fatal crash happened around 10:45 p.m. Per a witness’s testimony, a 2003 Ford Mustang and a 2011 Chevrolet Camaro may have been racing down Magnolia Avenue prior to the accident. As both cars reached speeds of 100 miles per hour, the Camaro turned in front of the Mustang, causing the Mustang driver to lose control and crash into a tree.
Soon after, paramedics reached the scene and transported the gravely injured 17-year-old driver and her 17-year-old female passenger with moderate injuries to a hospital. Despite life-saving efforts, Martinez, the driver, succumbed to her injuries.
At this time, police need the public’s help in locating the Camaro driver, who had fled the scene. If anyone has more information, please contact the Riverside Police.
