Man Dies in Sylmar Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crash on Foothill Boulevard
SYLMAR, CA (August 17, 2021) — A man died in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident on Foothill Boulevard near Hubbard Street early Monday.
According to police, the fatal hit-and-run occurred around 12:48 a.m. In the investigation, authorities learned that the man, believed to be in the 60s, tried crossing Foothill Boulevard mid-block. However, a gray or silver sedan, possibly a Kia or Toyota, struck the pedestrian and dragged him to a Mobil gas station nearby.
Per reports, the driver tried to dislodge the victim from beneath the vehicle and fled the scene shortly thereafter.
Tragically, the pedestrian, described as a homeless man, died in the crash and his identity has been withheld.
If anyone has more information on the hit-and-run driver, please contact the Los Angeles Police Department. As of now, a standing reward of up to $50,000 is available to anyone who can help the authorities.
