Head-On Crash in Arvin Involving Big Rig and Sedan Kills 21-Year-Old Woman
ARVIN, CA (October 19, 2021) – Jasmine Soofi was killed in a head-on accident in Arvin early Monday morning.
The accident happened around 1:44 a.m. on October 18, near Wheeler Ridge Road and Teale Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, a four-door sedan was traveling recklessly in the wrong direction when it collided with a big rig. The impact sent both vehicles into a ditch.
First responders pronounced Soofi dead at the scene. She was a 21-year-old Bakersfield resident, according to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office.
It is unclear if Soofi was the one driving the sedan.
Crews closed the northbound lanes for about five hours while they try to recover both vehicles out of the ditch.
An investigation of whether alcohol or drugs was involved is underway.
