Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver on 710 Freeway in Long Beach
LONG BEACH, CA (October 23, 2021) – A man died in a pedestrian hit-and-run on 710 Freeway in Long Beach earlier this month.
The accident happened around 3:01 a.m. on October 5, in the area of the 9th Street off-ramp. According to the Long Beach Fire Department, the pedestrian was walking northbound on the freeway and crossed into lanes of traffic. A white SUV traveling northbound then struck the pedestrian and fled the scene.
The victim suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. He was a 33-year-old Long Beach resident, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.
Detectives are investigating if the pedestrian was struck by a second vehicle. They asked anyone with information regarding this incident to contact Detective Kevin Johansen or Detective Joseph Johnson at (562)570-7355.
