Rider Dies after Crash on Laurel Canyon Road in Pacoima Involving Hit-and-Run Driver
PACOIMA, CA (October 19, 2021) – A motorcyclist was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Laurel Canyon Boulevard in Pacoima Saturday evening.
The fatal crash happened around 8:35 p.m. on October 16, at the intersection with Judd Street. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the motorcyclist was riding his 2012 Kawasaki northbound on Laurel Canyon when he merged into a two-way turn lane. He then collided into the back of a 2015 Toyota Corolla.
After the initial crash, the motorcyclist was thrown into the roadway. While lying on the ground, a southbound white sedan struck him. The driver of that sedan fled the scene.
The driver of the Corolla remained on scene and cooperated with police.
Responding paramedics rushed the motorcyclist to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. He was 53 years old.
Authorities offered a reward of up to $50,000 to anyone who can provide information about the hit-and-run suspect.
