Passenger Dies after Car Crashed into Commercial Area on Highway 78 in Oceanside
OCEANSIDE, CA (July 21, 2024) – John Edwards Jr. was killed in a car accident in Oceanside Saturday morning on July 13.
The fatal accident happened around 9:45 a.m. on Highway 78 near the 3800 block of Plaza Drive. According to the California Highway Patrol, a Hyundai sedan was traveling eastbound when it went off the freeway and landed in a commercial area.
Edwards, a 60-year-old passenger in the sedan, died at the scene. He was 60 years old, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Paramedics took the driver of the Hyundai to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
It was unknown if drugs or alcohol was a factor in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
