Head-On Crash near Shandon Kills Three People and Badly Injures Two

 
SHANDON, CA (August 4, 2024) – Francisco Polina Sainz, Rosalinda Bucio and Yvette Guzman were killed in a head-on accident near the Shandon area of San Luis Obispo County on July 28.
 
The fatal accident happened just before 10:30 p.m. on Highway 46 near West Center Street. According to the California Highway Patrol, the car the group was riding in was struck head-on by another car driving in the opposite lane of traffic along Highway 46.
 
As a result of the crash, all three victims suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
 
Sainz, a 27-year-old Reedley resident, and her girlfriend Bucio, a 24-year-old from Cutler, were returning from a day trip to Pismo Beach. They were accompanied by their friends, 32-year-old Yvette Guzman of Sanger and her boyfriend Carlos.
 
Carlos was hospitalized with serious injuries.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the other car also sustained major injuries.
