Mother and 10-Year-Old Child Killed, Driver Arrested after Temple City DUI Accident
TEMPLE CITY, CA (August 21, 2024) – A mother and her 10-year-old daughter died in a DUI accident on Temple City Boulevard, Saturday afternoon.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the incident happened on August 17, at about 1:00 p.m. A Toyota Scion xB reportedly attempted to turn north when it struck a curb, veered into the southbound lanes, and collided with a Honda CR-V in the 4400 block of Temple City Boulevard.
Emergency crews pronounced the mother and her daughter dead at the scene. Authorities withheld the identities of the victims.
Meanwhile, the woman’s husband sustained non-life-threatening injuries and needed hospitalization.
As per reports, the driver of the Toyota was arrested on suspicion of DUI resulting in injury, driving a vehicle in willful or wanton disregard for the safety of persons or property, and driving when a license is suspended or revoked for a DUI conviction. He reportedly suffered major injuries and underwent a surgery last Monday, August 19.
A passenger in the Toyota also sustained injuries.
The sheriff’s department continues to investigate the fatal accident.
