Rollover Crash on Highway 76 in Oceanside Kills Passenger, Driver Arrested for DUI

 
OCEANSIDE, CA (August 24, 2024) – A passenger was killed in a DUI rollover crash on Highway 76 in Oceanside late Thursday evening on August 22.
 
The fatal crash happened shortly after 11:00 p.m. just east of Loretta Street. According to the Oceanside Police Department, 20-year-old Dejhaun Jones of Oceanside was driving a BMW sedan when he lost control, causing the sedan to overturn.
 
The crash ejected the passenger of the sedan, who suffered major injuries, including a head trauma. Paramedics rushed him to a Scripps La Jolla Medical Center, where died Friday at 3:18 a.m.
 
The victim was also 20 years old from Oceanside. Authorities withheld his identity pending family notification.
 
Meanwhile, Jones sustained minor injuries. Police arrested him on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter and DUI-related charges. They booked him into the Vista Detention Facility.
