8-Year-Old Boy Dies after Struck by Sedan in Central Bakersfield

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (October 20, 2024) – Ricardo Aguilar was hit and killed by a car in central Bakersfield Wednesday afternoon on October 16.
 
The fatal crash happened around 1:44 p.m. at the intersection of Bank Street and Holtby Road. According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the 8-year-old victim was walking near Roosevelt Elementary School when a gray sedan struck him as he crossed Bank Street.
 
Police said the sedan stopped at the stop sign, then accelerated through the intersection, striking Aguilar.
 
Aguilar was rushed to Valley Children’s Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
 
A GoFundMe page was set up for Aguilar’s funeral expenses.
 
An investigation into this crash is underway.
