Two Vehicles Collide on Santa Fe Drive in Encinitas Injuring One Driver and Passenger
ENCINITAS, CA (December 10, 2024) – Two people were injured in a two-vehicle accident at Santa Fe Drive and Lake Drive in Encinitas on Friday evening.
The accident happened around 9:55 p.m. on December 6. According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department’s North Coastal Station, a 24-year-old man was driving a 2003 Toyota Tacoma east on Santa Fe Drive and continued through the intersection of Lake Drive.
At the same time, a 16-year-old girl was driving a 2016 Nissan Frontier west on Santa Fe Drive. She turned south onto Lake Drive in front of the Tacoma on a green light when the two vehicles collided.
The impact of the crash caused the Tacoma to overturn, ejecting the driver from the vehicle.
Responding paramedics transported the male driver of the Tacoma to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla with life-threatening injuries.
The 23-year-old passenger in the Tacoma was also taken to the same hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Meanwhile, the driver of the Frontier remained on scene and was unharmed.
Alcohol or drugs was not a contributing factor in the crash. An investigation is underway.
