1 Dies in Big Rig Crash on South Avenue in Fresno County
FRESNO COUNTY, CA (January 17, 2025) — A man died in a semi-truck accident on South Avenue and Cedar Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the 74-year-old man passed away around 1:25 p.m. Thursday in the two-car collision. CHP officers arrived at the scene to investigate. They learned that a Kenworth semi-truck heading northbound on Cedar Avenue entered the intersection and collided with a Mazda driver who failed to stop at the stop sign. Both vehicles collided at the intersection, causing both drivers to crash into a residential fence in the northeast corner.
The Mazda driver passed away in the accident. The 61-year-old semi-truck driver suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Community Regional Medical Center.
Fortunately, no one inside the residence was harmed.
After an investigation, authorities did not believe alcohol or drugs factored into the accident. If anyone has more to add, call the CHP.
