Fiery Crash Involving Several Vehicles on 55 Freeway in Tustin Kills Motorcycle Rider
TUSTIN, CA (January 26, 2025) – A motorcyclist was killed in a fiery accident on 55 Freeway in Tustin late Friday evening on January 24.
The fatal accident happened around 11:40 p.m. just south of Edinger Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol, a black Honda Civic, a white Scion FR-S, a white Tesla, a Volkswagen hatchback and a motorcycle collided along the southbound lanes of the freeway.
The impact caused the Tesla, Volkswagen and motorcycle to burst into flames.
Officers pulled the motorcyclist away from the flames and extinguished the fire burning his clothes. They attempted CPR on the motorcyclist, who did not survive and died at the scene.
Medics evaluated the occupants of the other vehicles involved and transported one person to OC Global Medical Center as a precaution.
Crews closed all southbound lanes of the freeway for over an hour while they worked on scene.
The cause of the crash and factors involved are still under investigation.
