At Least 1 Injured in Head-On Crash on 5 Freeway in Bakersfield

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (January 3, 2024) — A head-on accident on the 5 Freeway near 7th Standard Road Tuesday afternoon resulted in possible injuries.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the two-car crash happened on the northbound freeway, just south of 7th Standard Road before noon.
 
For an unknown reason, a driver of a gold-colored SUV spun out of control and entered the northbound lanes. Subsequently, the SUV collided head-on with a semi-truck.
 
Moments later, emergency crews arrived but did not say how many people were injured. Crews blocked the road to investigate the crash and clear the scene. The traffic was backed up for miles to Hageman Road.
