Man Killed in Pedestrian Accident at Atherton Street and Ashbrook Avenue [Long Beach, CA]

Pedestrian Dies after Struck by SUV on Atherton Street in Long Beach

 
LONG BEACH, CA (March 2, 2025) – A man was killed in a pedestrian accident at Atherton Street and Ashbrook Avenue in Long Beach on Wednesday evening.
 
The fatal accident happened around 7:10 p.m. on February 26. According to the Long Beach Police Department, the male pedestrian was walking southbound in an unmarked crosswalk when he was struck by an eastbound 2012 Honda Crosstour on Atherton Street.
 
Paramedics arrived and rushed the man to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
 
The victim’s identity was not immediately available.
 
The driver of the vehicle, a 21-year-old resident of Los Angeles, stayed on scene and cooperated with police.
 
Impaired driving does not appear to be a factor in the crash.
